I got a great question from Queen Salome on Linda-Goodman.com. She asked for ways to deal with oversensitivity but for now, I will just try to identify some natal aspects. First of all, there is a difference between sensitivity and oversensitivity. I know that most people know this, but it helps to explain. Oversensitivity is shown by the charts. Sensitivity is shown by the chart. Sensitive people are, often, psychic, or at least, very intuitive. Water is the main component for intuition. Hence, a person with high water will be more sensitive than a low water person. People get angry when I say comments like this but if I was politically correct, I would be totally boring( and wrong) *Sigh* I know that the world was not always this politically correct, but…………..
Back to the subject.Oversensitivity is linked to being very self centered. I do not say this as a judgement. Every person is very self centered. It is our nature. Hence, one has to start with the premise that all people are about me, me, me. The best way to combat this, in oneself, is to recognize it. To fight against a basic truth will just have one punching air. That will not get one very far.
With all traits, there is a Bell Curve. Some people are on the low end of the Bell Curve. Some are on the high end. Most are in the middle. If I had to say one placement that would put one on the high end of the Bell Curve with respect to being self centered, it would be the Sun/Mercury combust, exact. As the combust moves from exact to five degrees, the trait lessens.
Let me say this clearly. No chart aspect is the fault of the native. However, if one does not accept that which the chart presents, one will have little hope of mitigating the aspect. We all have strengths. We all have struggles. One can mitigate the struggles by emphasis on the strengths.
Another aspect for reactivity, rather than oversensitivity, per se, is the Unaspected Mars. If you want a person to go from zero to a hundred, in the manner of a Ferrari, you have your man in the Unaspected Mars.
A different form of oversensitivity may be the result of extreme self criticism. We, all, fall short of our own standards. The world seems to hammer us.All in all, it is very difficult to truly love oneself. However, those natives with a close, hard( conjunction, opposition or square) aspect between Saturn and the Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury, likely, suffer more than the rest of us. Saturn, in a soft aspect, may be a stern father, but a hard aspect may turn him into a tyrant. Each planet in hard aspect to Saturn has a different twist but the upshot of perfectionism exists in all.
Oversensitivity may result from pain.Chiron is pain. It is intensified in conjunction, close opposition and close square. When one hurts, one, likely, is self focused, through no fault of his own. With any aspect of oversensitivity, the way out is to reach out to others. Often, it is the LAST thing one wants to do. With Chiron, the need is stronger because Chiron, specifically, is mitigated through helping others, in the domain of one’s own wounds in others. That is the essence of the Chiron myth.
Another aspect for insularity, rather than oversensitivity, although these are related, is the chart configuration. When the lower half of the chart is occupied by planets, the person tends to pull inward. Conversely, when the upper half is occupied by planets, the person tends to reach out and get more involved in life.
