The angles are the Ascendant, IC, Descendant and MC. One must know time of birth in order to generate the angles.
The Ascendant
Others see this. This is our more superficial manner of behaving. It is not “superficial”, in terms of not being authentic. It is superficial in that it is not our DEEPEST self. If I wear a bright red dress with a bold, diamond necklace, this expresses me. However, it is NOT me. I am under it. If I wear a tailored, button down black suit, this expresses me, but it is NOT me. I am under it. If I wear a pink tutu with pink ballet slippers, this expresses me, but the true me is under it.If I wear a snake skin tight dress, this expresses me, but it is NOT me. I am under it.
All these clothes are manners of expression. I can change my clothes. In that sense, my examples fall a bit flat. However, the examples stand, in that the Ascendant is the outer manner of me. It is what you see. It is how I speak, dress, handle myself in daily affairs and my overall “vibe”.
I am a Libra Ascendant. I feel very Libra like in my daily life. I hate, hate, hate to bully. I hate, hate, hate to use force to get my way. I hate to win, if that means someone loses. I feel I act and dress in a refined manner. Hence, you see my Ascendant. It is still me, but not the DEEPER me. I hope that helps to explain the Ascendant because it can be a hard concept to understand.
The planets or asteroids which conjunct the Ascendant will be SEEN, too. Hence, if one has Moon conjunct the Ascendant, one will wear one’s heart on one’s sleeve because the Moon is one’s heart. If one has Pluto conjunct the Ascendant, one will show primal strength to the world a la a cop. If one has Saturn conjunct the Ascendant, one will show maturity and responsibility to the world. This native may have had a hard childhood, in which he had to grow up early. He may be one of those children who seem like little old men or little old women.
The IC
The IC shows one’s early childhood. That which conjuncts the IC indicates the NATURE of one’s early childhood. If Saturn is there, one may have been expected to be very responsible. If Jupiter is there, one may have been very loved and childhood may have been a happy time. If the Moon is there, one may have felt very safe and as if he belonged in his family. If Pluto is there, one may have had a violent childhood. Violence may be overt or simmering. It is still violence. Asteroids tell us about the nature of the childhood, too. If Sedna conjuncts the IC, there may have been betrayal by the father.
The Descendant
This angle shows that which attracts us in a partner, as well as that which we have cast off in ourselves and HOPE to find in a partner. Let me give some examples. I am a Libra ASC.My DES is Aries. I aspire to be Aries-like: bolder, more direct and more “in your face”. This is not easy for me. By the nature of the DSC, that which conjuncts it is that to which we ASPIRE.If Saturn conjuncts the DSC, one may aspire to be more disciplined. One will, likely, be attracted to partners who are mature and disciplined. If Pluto conjuncts the DSC, one may feel powerless and look for a powerful partner. If Eros conjuncts the DSC, one may not feel erotic, oneself, but be attracted to this trait in a partner.
The MC
The MC is like the ASC, in that it is SEEN. With the MC, the greater public sees you. The MC is the angle of the career. One has a career face. One has a public face. This may be quite different than the ASC.If Pluto conjuncts the MC, you may be known as a powerful person a la Putin. If Saturn conjuncts the MC, you may be known as a disciplined and responsible person, a good worker. If Venus conjuncts the MC, you may work in the beauty industry and/or you may be known for your grace and refinement a la Princess Grace of Monaco.I have Moon conjunct the MC. I bare my soul in my career. If you read my website, you will know me. I am loved and hated for the same thing. I open my heart to the world.
